Grandparents Day 1 Mile, 5K & 10K
Did you know that National Grandparents Day is September 9th? We are celebrating with our first annual Grandparents Day 1 Mile, 5K & 10K! Gather your kids and your friends and celebrate all of the amazing Grandparents out there! The medal says, “Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children,” – Alex Haley. You have the entire month of September to complete your race.
Plus, September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and at least 15% of every registration will go to ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer, which is the leading national nonprofit with the mission to end prostate cancer. ZERO advances research, improves the lives of men and families, and inspires action. ZERO has been on the front lines fighting for a cure for more than twenty years.

Goliath Triathlon
The Goliath 2.4 mile swim course really is one of the safest and most spectator friendly swim courses in Utah. Still Water Lake Estates (1791 W. Still Water Drive, Syracuse Ut. 84075) provides a perfect venue to start the Goliath. Spectators can walk along a paved berm that runs the length of Still Water Lake. Swimmers are allowed to wear wetsuits and teams can have up to 3 swimmers within the swim portion of the race. Relay Teams that have more than one swimmer will have a designated relay area where they will tag the next swimmer. This year we will have the first cyclist keep the chip around his or her ankle which will start the second transition of the Race. The last swimmer must run out of the water and tag their cyclist before they can begin.

Note: Only the swimmers participating in the swim portion of the race are allowed onto the lake and beach area of Still Water Lake Estates. This is a private lake community and we want to respect the property of Still Water Lake Estates.

Altra Top of Utah Marathon 2018
The Altra Top of Utah Marathon starts at Hardware Ranch, in the Wasatch Mountains southeast of Logan, Utah. Hardware Ranch is a wildlife management area where wild elk are fed during the winter to keep them from roaming into Cache Valley, where Logan is located. From Hardware, the race winds down beautiful Blacksmith Fork Canyon, passing river banks, marshes, limestone outcroppings, fall foliage, and cool canyon vistas. Moose, elk, deer, and many other species of wildlife make the canyon their home. Reaching Cache Valley at mile 14, the course follows mostly side roads through the small communities of Nibley, Millville, Providence, and River Heights before ending at Merlin Olsen Park, in Logan. Before the race, runners are bused from the park to the start line. The course is USAT&F-certified, which means it can be used to qualify for the Boston Marathon, and it has a net elevation drop of 1,045 ft. We are dedicated to bringing you a top quality and enjoyable event and we are sure you will enjoy your stay in Cache Valley.

AG Run for a Reason: Leo Thurgood
AvantGuard Monitoring Centers is happy to announce its annual “AG Run for a Reason.” Each year, AG team members nominate families from the local community who are experiencing financial and medical strains. Upon receiving the nominations, The AvantGuard 5K Committee selects a single family to be the beneficiary of the fundraising efforts.

In order to raise money for these families, AG hosts a 5K run and mile walk where its team members and other participants register to donate to the family. This event allows AvantGuard the opportunity to show its commitment to caring for the community, which makes strides to improve the quality of life; one family at a time.

This year AvantGuard is holding the event to benefit the Thurgood family, specifically Leo Thurgood. Leo is the son of Josh and Jenn Thurgood. He is considered an “O” baby, meaning he was born with an Omphalocele, a thin layered sac that contained his liver outside of his body.

In addition to the complications from his Omphalocele, Leo also has holes in his heart and a possible hernia. Support from this race will help his parents pay for the care he needs and coralle community support for his family.

AvantGuard hosts this event each year, purely for the benefit of paying-it-forward. Therefore, 100 percent of the race proceeds and donations go to the family in need for medical care expenses. AvantGuard Monitoring Centers, and donations from community partners like you, pay for the cost of the race, timing system, shirts, and signage. All organizers of the race are volunteers and receive no compensation from the donations received.
